Dahl, Roald

"Matilda" I read this chapter book for young adults by Roald Dahl after coming home from Salvation Army. I had bought it there from some boxes someone had donated. I had also bought the latest book by a well known writer and paid very little for either one of them. I started to read both of them and finished "Matilda" in one sitting. Of course I had seen the film and loved it. I loved the book even more.

Matilda is a special girl who is ignored by her parents who have no idea how wonderfully gifted she is, but others do. One is the librarian where Matilda goes when her mother is gone every afternoon to play bingo. Another is her teacher, Miss Honey.

This book works extremely well because not only are the good people who notice Matilda very good people but the villains are very bad people such as Miss Trunchbull. Dahl is a gifted writer who describes these people so very well. I saw myself in Matilda as most children so themselves win her. Many of us had parents that did not understand or appreciate us. I had a Miss Honey and of course most of us had a Miss Trunchbull although not as bad but close.

The film that was made for this book is outstanding and pretty close to the book. It was directed by Danny DeVito. With Mara Wilson, Danny DeVito, Rhea Perlman

The Author: Roald Dahl(English pronunciation: /ˈroʊ.ɑːl ˈdɑːl/,Norwegian: [ˈɾuːɑl dɑl]; 13 September 1916 – 23 November 1990) was a British novelist, short story writer, and screenwriter.

The life of Dahl was incredibly exciting and interesting. I thought about trying to condense it, and then to reproduce it. I recommend that everyone read it Wikipedia's version and there are some interesting biographies.
